Hello Naturals, Transitioning Naturals, and the Curious!
So - I took the extra day on MLK weekend to "be good" to my hair! I gave myself a Henna Treatment and a goooood trim! **pats my lazy-self on the back!**
As mentioned in my
Back to Basics post, I've been a little negligent on sealing my ends lately and have been suffering the consequences (weak & brittle ends). Also as mentioned, Henna stops my hair from shedding
COLD TURKEY! So, doing these two things together was JUST what I needed! After retwisting my hair last night, I can
definitely tell the difference.
Anyhoo -- I wanted to share what's in my Henna Mix (it varies based on personal preference). I prefer to use green tea, honey, a slippery conditioner and I also prefer to apply Henna overnight and wash out the next day.
As you will notice, one of the drawbacks to Henna is that it can be a very time consuming process. But MAN it's worth it for me!! My hair strands are "silky smooth", my hair is shiny, my twist-outs are more defined, and I have VERY little hair shedding! Take a look at my post-henna hair for the past two weeks -- shiny and smooth!

Attached are the links to my youtube videos. The first video displays the application. The second video displays how I wash out and deep condition afterwards. Henna can dry the hair out if not properly washed out AND deep conditioned!
Has anyone else given it a shot? Do share your experiences! If you are thinking about trying, PLEASE check out my
Henna Risks post and read about the pros and cons. "One size doesn't fit all", so be informed before you try it out!

I'm sacred to try Henna. People make it sound so bad. Although all products has it's PROS & CONS. I need something that'll stop my shedding & breakage.
ReplyDeleteWell, I certainly don't recommend it for those with loose curls, or those who want to color their hair. Plus you can get strengthening from protein treatments without the henna side effects...I just so happen to not mind it. Good Luck ;-)
